Security alerted State and Springfield police from the Gaming Enforcement Unit at the casino, and they responded outside the casino to search for the man, officials said. The incident began shortly after midnight when the man tried to enter the casino but was barred from entering after casino security discovered spent shell casings in his backpack, according to David Procopio, State Police spokesman.
